Over Spring Break, your Dad and I took a trip out to the southwest with the Thompsons. What a way to spend my 19th week of pregnancy! You sure got lots of exercise and if my belly button could have served as a tiny window for you to peek through, you would have gotten to take in alot of great sights as well. Oh well…we’ll have to show you pictures later! But technically, you have now been to:

Moab, Monument Valley
4 Corners, Mesa Verde
& Grand Canyon
…Whew! You made those hikes a little bit harder, but we had a great time and I was glad you were along for the ride. It’s amazing to be in the middle of God’s vast, beautiful and unique creation. It’s also therapeutic to have a change of scenery – and the southwest certainly was that!
It seems that you agree that I did enough moving last week because I felt you start to move for the first time the day we got home (which was probably the first time in over a week that I had actually sat down for a few consecutive hours)! At first, I thought I was
just hungry and my stomach was growling. Then when the feeling continued, I realized that it was different than anything I had felt before. It actually felt like tiny involuntary muscle contractions in my lower abs.
It’s like my stomach is just doing its own thing regardless of my involvement or approval. And I guess that is about right – we are sharing this body and you have just as much right to my belly as I do, I suppose! You are certainly making yourself comfortable with all that swimming around and stretching you seem to be doing. Since that first day I felt you, you have just been constantly on the move! You’re already taking after me, by the way. The activity level increases as the night gets later.
Looks like I’ll finally have a night owl buddy while your Dad sleeps away. I think you and I will get along just fine.
