No One Told Me Parenting Required Flexibility

Well, of course, I’m joking. We knew that having children would mean that we’d have to be ready to change some plans and live a bit of a different lifestyle than we’ve been used to living. But, we’re pretty flexible people and I figured we still had about 6 months until we really had to face some of the bigger changes that will have to happen when you actually arrive.

liberiaBut, you seem to have gotten a jump start on the whole plan-changing business. After making plans to take an awesome trip to Liberia this summer with Compassion Corps (Nana and Aunt Jenna were going to come, too!), we found out that I am apparently not allowed to have the yellow fever vaccination while pregnant. I don’t know if you heard your Dad scolding you, but he definitely gave my belly a firm talking-to. Can’t believe you are already teaching us flexibility, little baby. You’re only 5 inches long!

In Other News

So, this past week we got to share the news about you with our TCA family. We asked my Mom to announce it and she do so in faculty devotions one morning by displaying this adorable outfit that she and IMG_3331Abby and Carlie already got you! You are definitely going to be a little soccer stud. As it appears, you will be born just as pre-season wraps up!

Also, your Aunt Corrie was very excited to share the news and she made the first post to notify the facebook world of your existence… And everyone knows that nothing is official until it’s on facebook!

IMG_3328Yeah! No more trying to hide my little belly under baggy shirts and pants that are now too tight. It’s time to embrace it. After all, you’re only going to get bigger from here.  🙂

I recall a handsome, young, slim and trim guy (cough…cough…that would be your husband) saying something to this effect not too long after we knew we had a little one growing in your body.

That is too bad though, about the Liberia trip. Hopefully you guys will get to go once the baby is born or sometime in years to come.
